Update regarding the Dragon Ball Z Kai video:
Some of you may be a bit confused about the status of the Dragon Ball Z Kai retrospective, and I'll take this time to explain. I admit I haven’t exactly been great at keeping things consistent.
This is a project I’ve had in my head since 2017 and has constantly changed as time has progressed. Barring one visual snafu, “Part 1” is finally online. Part 2 is being scripted and I’m taking my time on that because it’s needed many rewrites. The intent of Part 2 is as follows:
- Try to chronicle how Dragon Ball Z Kai’s impact represented a shift in direction in terms of how Dragon Ball was marketed in the west
- If I am lucky enough to get insight from another VA / person who worked at FUNi during Kai’s production, I’d love to add this but I won’t delay it just for this reason
- Chronicle my history with post Kai TFC media that I have experienced (FighterZ, Super Hero, Broly, the first 3 episodes of Daima)
- Reflect on death; the death of Akira Toriyama and the death of my grandmother
I haven’t exactly had the best luck in trying to get back into drawing. However, my partner Jay (who already does the assets for my podcast) will be helping with those.
I have potential ideas for future video essays mapped out but I am trying to only focus on THIS getting done. You’ll hear things in a better quality because I am using my FocusRite Scarlett Solo and an AT2020 instead of the hodgepodge you heard in part 1. I tried my best to mix it so it would sound better.
